I’ve adopted a high raw food diet and I’m loving it so far. Here I have a sprouted corn tortilla, some organic and artificial free hummus, avocado, red cabbage, cucumber, and some fresh squeezed lemon juice. Fresh and delicious!

!Curlformers! (in a sing-songy voice)
So there are a ton of tutorials on youtube so I know there’s no need for me to do one but I did want to post my first results. I didn’t actually buy curlformers because they are SUPER expensive but…I found some great knock-off ones here that worked just as well and sent a lot of additional hooks (which is good because I broke one already!).
So I used water with a little kinky curly knot today leave in conditioner to spray my hair and keep it moist (since I didn’t do these on freshly washed hair) and I used Jane Carter Wrap & Roll setting lotion to set my hair. I used the technique outlined by this video by NaturalChica and twisted the roots a bit before hooking my hair in order to get all the hair through the curlformer.
I used 48 in all and let me tell you….these things are HEAVY!!! I sat under my hooded dryer for about 20 minutes and then went to sleep. Now many people say that these things are comfortable to sleep in but I think maybe those people don’t have as much hair as me. Well, let me be fair, they weren’t uncomfortable once I found a position on my pillow that didn’t cause my hair to be pulled so hard at the roots. These things stay in place very well, to the point of pulling at your roots!
Anywho, after a pretty decent sleep…better than any sleep I EVER got with traditional rollers in my hair…I woke up to find every curlformer perfectly in place. Removing them was super easy and here are my results.
After this I pinned my hair into a cute style and went on my merry way. The results lasted about two days and after that, my hair was still twisty so I was able to stretch out a few styles. (Sorry I don’t have any pics of those styles!)
All in all this was a good experiment and I will definitely be reusing my curlformers. The entire application process took me 3 hours but, again, my hair was not freshly washed so I had to wet and detangle as I went. I anticipate an application time of about 1 1/2 hrs next time if I do this on freshly washed hair. So, what do you think?
